The Richmond Hotel was located opposite St Peter's Church on the corner of Richmond Place.

From the early Sixties the first floor ballroom was a regular Sunday evening venue for dances, featuring many of Brighton’s rock and pop bands.

Much later in the Sixties, evenings featuring Blues and Soul music were a speciality.

The promoter of the early Sixties gigs was Mr Bob Harding.  He was a great supporter of local talent and booked The Chimes, The Giants and The Sapphires in 1962/63.
